Kihim beach
Kihim is a small beach town located in the state of Maharashtra. The town is located near Alibag and it is a popular hangout place among the people of Pune and Mumbai. It is a town that is known as a perfect weekend getaway. The main attraction in the place is the long stretch of a clean beach that have been unaffected by the advent of tourism.
There are small villages that are located near Kihim and these are good places that you can visit, while travelling to Kihim town. The people are friendly and many fishing villages at the seaside. The place is extremely popular among ornithologists as many species of birds can be seen here. For nature buffs, this is an ideal place to visit and witness nature at its rawest form.
The village of Chaul is a small town with a rich colonial heritage. This is an interesting place to visit and there are many relics of Portuguese occupation that can be seen here. There is an old church that is located in the town and an old synagogue that was built by the Bene Jews still remains today. A Balaji Temple and the Umma Maheswar Temple is also located in the place.
Alibag Beach

Alibag Beach is the main beach of the town. The beach has the blackest sand of the region. The beach is very lively with bathers in the morning and many food stalls in the evening.
Kolaba Fort

It is situated in the sea at a distance of 1–2 km from the shores of Alibag.The average height of the fort walls is 25 feet. It has two main entrances, one on the sea side and the other towards Alibag. An interesting feature of this fort is that it has freshwater wells in its premises even though it is a seaside fort. In the monsoons, the fort can be reached by wading through waist-deep water at low tide. However, at high tide, boats must be used to reach it.
Brahma Kund

The Brahma Kund is a great work. It is on the hill top. There are two kunds the shiv pool and the Brahma’s pond. Brahma Kund is a rectangular tank which is encircled by steps on all the 4 sides. It is a very beautiful site. The site is excellent for photography.
There is a small Maruti Mandir in its vicinity. As one nears the temple one can see a small statue with an encoding ‘Mirchi Baba’. This encoding was done in the year 1612.
This pool was created by the water which was collected after Lord Brahma bathed lord Krishna.
Awas Beach

Awas is a quietly serene beach about 2 kilometers away from Kihim and about 8 kilometers away from Mandwa beach to it's right that makes it a 10 kilometers long belt of beaches. If one wants to enjoy the caress of the sea breeze in the solitude, this is the beach to be. This is a less famous beach and hence it doesn't see the multitude of tourists flocking it's shores. Hence if you want a quiet and relaxing weekend. Awas beach is your answer. And who knows you might even spot celebrities like Amir Khan sipping over his lime and soda and business barons like Vijay Mallya serenading the sun.The famous Nagoba Mandir is here in Awas. And there is a huge festival held here 15 days after Diwali as well, so for all the believers, immerse yourself in the devotion to the Nagoba and wash away all your sins.
The beach is relatively flat and has good sand. It is ideal for swimming and your kids can accompany you.Family groups can enjoy games of cricket beach volley, football or maybe just put a mat and bask in the sunshine. With a sunset extraordinaire this is the best option near Alibaug if you enjoy beaches.
Varsoli Beach

Located about a mile from the main beach, home to a very large naval base.It is situated just on the outskirts of Alibag. It is relatively less visited site and as a result is a quiet beach with sparkling white sand and cleaner seawater. Varsoli is a small satellite village across Alibag, complete with thick vegetation of coconut and Casuarina.
Sasawane Beach

Along the same Alibag – Rewas road, 14 kms off Alibag, you turn left at Awas to reach Sasawane, which is 6 kms from the main road. The unique feature is that the Mumbai shore is just opposite ! At night the illuminated Mumbai shore line is a thing to watch !
Mandwa Beach

Mandwa beach is located about 20 km north of Alibag. The ferry services can be utilized from Mumbai to the Mandwa jetty. Mandwa is a natural port. The place is famous for many Bollywood celebrities bungalows. Mandwa is a superb and untrodden beach. With the clear skies the view across the bay till the Gateway of India is absolutely enchanting and cannot be expressed in words. They are a joy to the mind and a feast to the eyes. The village is charming and it is a beauty of its own. The beautiful groves of coconut palms are very rejuvenating especially on a a hot summer afternoon. People mostly come here to laze away into the sun and soak in the moisture of the sea. An absolutely untouched and immaculate beach and is a sheer pleasure for anyone who i looking forward to a break in their humdrum normal routine life. This is a place where a nature enthusiast can go gaga over the sheer magnanimity of the sea and the tranquility the place has to offer. A wildlife lover will bask in the diversity of the wildlife here. So just come and lose yourself in nature's embrace.
