Mumbai is very hot & humid. Where do I run away for a cooler climate? Apart from Mahabaleshwar, Panchgani, Lonavala, Matheran, you can try Saputara ahead of Nashik. 6 hours drive from Mumbai. You can even go to Tapola which is just 30 km from Mahabaleshwar & is very quiet place. You can go for a bungalow on rent in Mahabaleshwar. Lavasa, Mulshi near Pune City are good options as well. All these hill stations are blessed with breathtaking valley views, waterfalls (mostly in monsoon), lakes. Camping in forest as a good option too & many resorts provide it. During monsoons one can visit places like Kolad, Igatpuri, Jawhar, Kolad.

A standard non-AC bungalows in Lonavala cost around 10000 per night for 10 people. They are ideal for longer stays & give you a second home like experience. Bungalows in Mahabaleshwar are very popular among tourists some of them with valley views. Same is for the bungalows in Panchgani.
